A Chinese kidnapped in Edo State has regained his freedom after over three months in captivity.

The Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, who disclosed that the Chinese who was kidnapped during a recent incident involving an ambush on NSCDC personnel regained his freedom on December 2, 2025, at a location in Kabba, Kogi State, following sustained technical and tactical operations jointly executed by the Edo and Kogi state police commands, with support from vigilante groups and hunters.

Recall that gunmen on September 5, 2025, kidnapped the Chinese after killing eight and injuring four officers of the NSCDC attached to the BUA Cement Company in Okpella, Etsako East LGA, Edo State.

The kidnapper reportedly laid an ambush close to the company and opened fire on the officers escorting the Chinese after a routine patrol at the company’s entrance gate.
