Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Philip Shekwo, who was taken by kidnappers, has been found dead.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Philip Shekwo, who was taken by kidnappers, has been found dead.

The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Dele Longe, confirmed his kidnap earlier on Sunday.

A source, staying anonymous, confirmed his death on Sunday.

His party is yet to react to his kidnap and death.

Shekwo was abducted late Saturday from his residence in Lafia.

Longe said, ” Unidentified gunmen in large number stormed the resident of the APC Chairman in Lafia around 11 O’clock on Saturday night. But with the synergy of Anti kidnapping Unit, Army,  Air Force,  and conventional police engaged them in a real battle, the gunmen were repelled.
 “It was more than kidnapping, as they took him away, no demand was made, we believe it was a planned assassination. We investigate trailed and found his corpse few meters away from his house.
His body was found in Bukan Sidi area of Lafia

The corpse was identified few meters away from his house and conveyed to a mortuary.

His family and friends  have been crying in the residence of the deceased.
Residents in the Bukan Sidi area of the metropolis said they gunmen shot sporadically in the air to avoid being challenged by the security agencies and neighbours.
Governor Abdullahi Sule and Senator Umaru Al-Makura have called to condole with the family.
