Fifty-year-old Iliyasu Suleiman and principal of Government Day Secondary School, Lere in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area (LGA)of Bauchi State has regained his freedom eight days after he was abducted by unidentified gunmen.
A family source told Daily Trust on Sunday that Suleiman was released in the wee hours of Saturday.
It will be recalled that the principal and 25-year-old Zulkifiru Mohammed were kidnapped last Saturday at Kardam village in Tafawa Balewa LGA when some unidentified gunmen attempted to kidnap the Auditor General of Bauchi State who sustained gunshot wounds.
Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the release of the principal. PPRO, DSP Ahmed Wakili who disclosed this in a telephone interview said that the victim was freed Saturday but noted that there were no details of whether any random was paid to secure his release.
