Two men who were allegedly kidnapped by gunmen a month ago are pleading with their families and community members to help pay their ransom so they can be released.
The victims, identified as Lukeman and two others, were kidnapped early last month in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area. They were initially abducted while attempting to deliver a ransom payment for other kidnapped individuals.
According to reports, the kidnappers first demanded a N70 million ransom but later brought it down to N30m. However, when the victims arrived at the agreed location to make the payment, they were also taken captive. The kidnappers are now reportedly demanding the full N70m ransom for their release.
The victims’ appeal to their families and others was made in a viral video released by their captors. In the video, which was seen by Daily Trust, the victims were heard pleading with their relatives to complete the payment to spare them from torture.
The Edo State Command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, said the video “might be an old video.”
