The two abducted officials were the Team Manager, Rasheed Balogun and the Team Secretary, Clement Olagundoye.
The Media Officer of the Team, Tony Ogunkua, who disclosed the abduction of the two officials of the team, said the bus conveying the officials including the Chief Coach, Solomon Ogbeide and his three assistants were ambushed by a gang of armed men believed to have been sponsored by a former player of the club who was allegedly been owed some money by the team.
According to Ogunkua, one of the abducted officials put a call to the chairman of the club who later called Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who told the Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, before search teams of policemen in four trucks were mobilised.
The abducted officials were rescued by policemen who swooped on the hideout in Warri and disarmed the abductors, after about six hours of their being in captivity.
Ogunkua described the incident as alien to the Nigerian League, saying in this era when Nigeria is rebranding and the league rated among the best in Africa, there were better ways to seek justice for anybody that is aggrieved.
