Kidnappers opened fire on a Volkswagen car and abducted a vigilante member, identified as Ohikwo at Ukya Gwari village, along Abaji-Toto Road in Nasarawa State.
A driver of the vehicle, Shuaibu Adamu, who said he narrowly escaped the attack, said the incident happened around 6:27 pm last Thursday.
He said a vigilante member, who was riding on a motorcycle behind his car, was abducted by the kidnappers while trying to escape.
A vigilante member in Toto, who preferred anonymity confirmed that the victim was returning from Ugya on his way to his Atako village when he ran into the kidnappers.
“And even as I am talking to you, his abductors are yet to call to demand for ransom, which we are seriously worried about,” he said.
The Nasarawa State Police spokesman, CSP Rahman Nansele, replied through text message sent to him by Daily Trust that the incident was not reported to the police.
