Four suspected kidnappers dressed as women have been arrested trying to abduct a 4-year-old boy in Katsina.
The state police command’s spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah, said the suspects aged 19 to 22, were arrested with hijab and niqab and have since confessed to have planned to kidnap the boy, who is said to be son of the state’s Assistant Accountant General, Alhaji Rabi’u Gide.
Isah said the DPO of GRA Division Katsina on April 4 received a distress call of unusual movement of two men with one among them wearing hijab and niqab covering his body and face like a woman close to the INEC state headquarters office, GRA, Katsina.
“The DPO swiftly swung into action and led a surveillance team to the area, where they were arrested,” he added.
In a related development, one Gambo Lawal, 26, of Danmusa LGA of Katsina State has been arrested just as other members of his syndicate (now at large) were planning to kidnap one Alhaji Mustapha Kabir of Dogon Gida Quarters in Danmusa.
“Several SIM cards used in the commission of the offence were recovered from him during police investigation.
“The suspect has confessed to the crime and other similar armed robbery/kidnapping incidents in the area. Effort is in top gear to arrest other members of his syndicate,” the DPO added.
