Six armed men stormed Olla town in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State and abducted one Olujala Adegboja, a farm manager on his way back from his farm on Saturday night. The Mr Adegboja was driving a white Toyota Hilux when the kidnappers laid ambush and whisked him. 

Residents of Olla told Daily Trust that the 55 year-old victim, popularly known as Oni-Jay, is a brother to a PDP chieftain and aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Hon Onijala, and the traditional ruler of Olla.

A source conversant with the matter said, “The kidnappers operated freely for several minutes. The abandoned Toyota Hilux was stained by the blood of Oni-Jay who initially tried to resist them.”

The abductors have reportedly contacted Onijala’s family and demanded N200m to release him.

Similarly, seven armed men have stormed a sachet (pure) water factory in Sosoki, Alapa area of Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State on Saturday and abducted eight workers, including the factory’s owner, Hajia Fatima Nurudeen.

Reacting to the incidents, the police spokesman in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, said, “Effort by a combined team of policemen, vigilantes and hunters is still ongoing to rescue the victim and possibly arrest the abductors in the Isin incident.

“As regards the Asa incident, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, immediately unleashed the command’s tactical teams with the local hunters and vigilantes to the area to rescue the victims and arrest the hoodlums.

“The effort resulted in the rescue of seven out of the eight workers. The command is getting close to rescuing the remaining victim who happens to be the owner of the factory and possible arrest the kidnappers.”
