Kidnappers on rampage I don’t think there is any place in Nigeria where kidnappers are operating freely than Burra, an agrarian and forest area in Ningi Local Government of Bauchi State, where large scale farming and mining is taking place all year round.
Few months after cattle rustlers were chased away from the thick forest of Burra which borders Lame and Falgore forests, kidnappers replaced them, established their dens and operate unhindered.
They kidnap people on daily basis and demand ransom ranging from 2 million naira and above. Their targets are mainly herdsmen and large scale farmers in the area.
In continuation of their unhindered daily dastardly and deadly activities, they recently kidnapped one of the largest farmers in the area Alh Mato Burra (Kauran Burra) who is a chieftain of PDP in Ningi LG in his farm at the outskirt of Burra.
This is in addition to irrigation farmers they held captive waiting for ransom to be paid. Weeks ago they kidnapped the father of member representing Sumaila constituency in Kano State House of Assembly Hon Zubairu Hamza Massu in his village Massu which is very close to Burra and held him for days.
The most ridiculous thing is how sometimes the kidnappers use to come back to where they kidnap certain people and substitute them with those they think are more important to members of the family or community. 
In Burra and environs people are living in fear. Who will come to their aid? Military personnel are already in Burra for months but they never confront the kidnappers because they don’t receive order from above and the weapons being used by the kidnappers are very sophisticated. 
It is time for those in authority to act quickly before it is too late. Farmers are not going to their farms in this time that farming become a task that everybody must do, mining and other social activities have stopped. This is very dangerous for the whole state and indeed the neighbouring Kano State.
