The suspected kidnap kingpin – Chukwudumene Onwuamadike, aka Evans, Monday frustrated a move by the Lagos State Government to arraign him on fresh charges bordering on murder and illegal firearms possession.

His lawyer, Mr. Olukoya Ogungbeje, who challenged the competence of the charges contended that his client could not be arraigned until his application challenging the charges and the court’s jurisdiction had been determined.
 
He said since the prosecuting team for the state just served him with a reply to the application on Monday morning in court, he would need an adjournment to reply.

Consequently, the presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, adjourned the matter till Friday, October 27, 2017.

Chukwudumene Onwuamadike, aka Evans was named as first defendant, Joseph Ikenna Emeka and Chiemeka Arinze as second and third defendants respectively.

Evans was alleged to have kidnapped and murdered Sylvanius Ahanonu Hafiia and attempted kidnap of the chairman of Young Shall Grow Motors Vincent Obianodo.

 ‎ The charges are separate from the ones pressed against him before the Ikeja division of the court. Evans alongside Victor Nonso Aduba,are facing a four count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit kidnapping, ‎kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms, which is contrary to Sections 409,269 (3) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011 and section 9 (1) of robbery and firearms (Special Provision Act) law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
