Kidnapping: Police arrest 7, recover cash in Kwara forest

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police (CP), Victor Olaiya, on Sunday, said seven suspected kidnappers and over N1 million recovered during an assault in a forest raid in Ifelodun LGA.
He gave the names of the suspects as: “Umaru Mohammed (Yellow), Mohammed Mohammed (Kerimi), Garuba Abubakar, Ilaisu Usman, Ibrahim Abubakar, Usman Haruna and Umaru Bello, alias Informant, with a cash sum of N1,736,000 recovered during a search of their hideouts.”

Olaiya, in a statement on Sunday, said the rise in the wave of kidnapping in the state lately led to the formation on 1/11/2023 of a powerful police team.
He said, “The team comprises men drawn from the counter-terrorism unit, anti-robbery, anti-kidnapping, anti-cultism, anti-narcotic, Explosive Ordnance Department (EOD), Police Mobile Force (PMF) and police medical.”
