Following reported cases of kidnappings by bandits, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has visited Garam and other communities that border FCT, Niger, and Kaduna states.
CP Dantawaye was accompanied by senior officers of the command, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations as well as men of the Anti-Kidnap Unit of the command, led by ASP Umar Mustapha.
He said the tour was aimed at boosting police presence, assessing operational deployments, and ensuring the safety of residents in these strategic locations.
He added that the tour forms part of the command’s ongoing efforts to prevent cross-border crimes and strengthen its capacity to respond swiftly to emerging security threats.
During the tour, CP Dantawaye paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Bwari and the Esu Bwari, where he emphasized the importance of community partnership in sustaining peace and security.
He reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property while urging residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to the police.
He told the monarchs that the FCT Police Command remains resolute in its mission to ensure the safety and security of all residents of the territory.
He added that the command will continue to prioritize community engagement, intelligence-led policing, and strategic deployment across the FCT.
CP Dantawaye, therefore, encouraged FCT residents to always reach the command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938, in case of any suspicious movement of persons or activity in their area.
Abuja Metro reports that the CP also inspected various police formations and deployment points, including the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, during the tour.
