The organisers say the show, comprising entertainment, visual arts, music and literature, will help children embrace the positive influences of arts and culture in the world.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), KidzTrust Limited, Mrs. Sheila Okonji-Ashinze, told journalists in Lagos that her organization believes in the future of Nigerian youths and wants to empower them in the arts of theater by staging the High School Musical stage production.

Represented by its Marketing/Sales Manager, Murna Odeh, the organizers also noted that the High-octane music and dance numbers would be delivered by a young cast that KidzTrust would audition throughout Nigeria starting with Lagos to ensure that the most talented ensemble is created and  make superstars of the male and female leads.

The talent hunt, targeted at youths between ages 16 to 25 will have its first auditions from January 11th to 17th, 2010, while the main show is slated for May 2010. It is open to students in both public and private schools.

She said that interested contestants should purchase their scratch card for N5, 000 at First Bank branches across the nation, which they could use to log on to the indicated website to register.

She said that whoever participated and excelled in the show will have the opportunity to go on training in one of the prestigious performing arts school in London and will also participate in the African show coming up later next year.

“Auditions will have highly talented resource people who share our vision and love for the Nigerian youth to assist in the production such as Celine E. Loaader (CMO FIRST BANK, Tajudeen Adepetu of Soundcity, Wole Olagundoye, Tarila Thompson and Stella Damasus-Nzeribe, amongst others,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Director, High School Musical, Nigeria, Tarila Thompson, urged parents to see the project as an a avenue to imbibe good qualities and ethics in their children.
