The Benue State government has called on security agencies to fish out the killers of the late Akatu Onche, a retired comptroller of Immigration, who was shot dead by yet-to-be identified gunmen in Otukpo area of the state.
The killing of the late Onche and kidnapping of three others had on Tuesday sparked wild protest from residents of Asa II community in Otukpo Local Government Area of the state. Deputy Governor of the state, Barr. Sam Ode, during a condolence visit to the grieving family and residents of Asa II in the Otukpo LGA, charged the security agencies to find the killers of the retired comptroller of Immigration tragically murdered by unknown gunmen in his home on the evening of Monday, March 31, 2025.
He said that the violent attacks occurred around 7:45pm resulting in the death of Onche and the abduction of three other individuals, including a couple, from his home.
Ode, prior to his visit to the affected communities, held a closed-door meeting with the paramount ruler of the Idoma nation, Och’Idoma, Dr. Elaigwu John Odogbo, along with Otukpo Local Government chairman, Maxwell Ogiri.
