The debate, with topics: “Human rights are alien to Africa” and “Child rights are more important than other rights,” had four schools as participants.
While the American International School, Abuja, came 2nd, Regina Pacis Girls College, Abuja, took the 3rd position.
The Coordinator, Sterling Centre for Law and Development, Mr. Deji Ajare, said the summit was organised to encourage students in the pursuit of their academic careers.
Ajare said the centre will continue to explore more avenues that will educate students of secondary schools about human rights. He said 24 secondary schools participated in the maiden summit.
Highlights of the event included songs by students of Lead British International Schools, Abuja, and films on human rights.
