The old boys’ association of King’s College in Lagos State has decried the humiliating state of unity schools as it urged the government to hands off management of the schools and get experts to do that.

President of King’s College Old Boys Association (KCOBA), Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, who spoke at the 112th anniversary of the school in Lagos appealed to the government to hand over unity schools to boards of trustees for effective management.

He called on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila who was also at the occasion to mobilise to pass a bill that will enable boards of trustees to take over management of the schools using the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Responding, Gbajabiamila promised to sponsor a bill in the House for takeover of unity schools by their board of trustees.

Earlier, the Principal of Kings College in Lagos, Mr. Andrew A. Agada while presenting a report of the College to the old boys lamented that the payment of hefty electricity bills from the Public Power Company is posing a challenge to the operations of the school.
