Already regarded as the best 1500m female athlete of all time, Faith Kipyegon underlined her status as a legend with a dominant victory to reclaim the title she had lost in 2017.

Kipyegon was a picture of poise, elegance and colossal power as she glided round the track before deploying her now-signature finishing kick to claim victory in 3:52.96.

Gudaf Tsegay clinched silver (3:54.52) while Great Britain’s Laura Muir took bronze (3:55.28).
