Kano state government has commenced distribution of food items to the less privileged in the state.
The distribution, through the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor of Kano state on Child welfare, Hajiya Fatima Abdullahi Dala, was to assist the beneficiaries during the forthcoming Ramadan fasting.
The distribution of the items was flagged-off by the Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hajiya Yar’dada Maikano Bichi.
The commissioner stated that the exercise was in line with the state government’s measures to support the families of the vulnerable and the less privileged in the society.
She added that the gesture would alleviate the sufferings of some families, especially at this critical moment of economic recession and more over as the holy month of Ramadan is fast approaching.
In her address, Hajiya Fatima Dala commended the government on behalf of the beneficiaries for the gesture.
The adviser also confirmed that, four hundred and fifty families had benefited from the exercise, adding that her office would organize a 2-day stakeholders consultative dialogue to discuss the rate of increasing child abuse and molestation in the state with a view to finding a lasting solution.
