Kano state government has donated items worth hundreds of thousands of naira to the 19-year old physically challenged Rahma Haruna who has been confined in a plastic container for years due to a strange illness.
Delivering the items to Rahma, the commissioner for women sffairs, Hajiya Zubaida Abubakar Damakka stated that the state government found it necessary to assist Rahma for the fact that even though physically challenged, yet she wanted to be productive.
“This a way of encouragement to Rahma, Kano state government has found it necessary to assist this girl knowing that if her condition did not kill her zeal of being productive; then it is our duty to encourage her to fulfill her dreams. She is indeed a source of motivation and impression to all of us. We have also empowered her family to support her wishes,” said the commissioner.
Rahma whose heart touching story recently filtered into the global perspective on social networks, has made it clear that she wasn’t happy with begging and wanted assistance to start a small business that would bail her out of begging.
