KNSG, Media Trust collaborate to improve students’ reading culture

Kano State government has joined hands with Media Trust Limited to advance reading culture among students by subscribing to Teen Trust newspaper, the company’s special publication for students.

The Executive Secretary of the state’s Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSMB), Dr Bello Shehu, who made this known when he received a delegation of Media Trust (publishers of Daily Trust and Teen Trust titles) in his office, said a committee had been set up to fast-track and supervise the distribution of the paper across schools in the state.

He commended the company for introducing the publication that focuses mainly on students, stressing that they would continue to circulate the paper amongst schools in the state with a view to improving the students’ reading culture.

The Executive Secretary said Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje had shown a keen interest in the publication and that prompted his approval for the purchase of the paper, adding that an editorial committee was set up to monitor and encourage students to read and send their contributions for publication in the paper.

The  Assistant General Manager, Northern Operations, of the Media Trust, Abdullahi Mainasara commended the state government for the subscription.

He also urged them to encourage the students to improve their reading habits along with their writing skills by sending contribution for publication in the special publication.
