In a message to a Public Lecture theme “Overcoming Gender Dialogues in Competitive profession” organised by the association as part of its Twentieth Anniversary in Abuja, Governor Shekarau said his administration was committed to creating an enabling environment for all professionals, including female journalists to meet the challenges of today.

The governor who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Malam Sule Ya’u Sule disclosed that already the state government had provided executives of the state chapter of the association with laptop computers in addition to a sixteen- seater bus to enable it have  easy movement in their quest to sensitise the women folk in the state on their programme.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the senior special assistant on Media and Public Relations, Malam Sule Yaú Sule.

Malam Ibrahim Shekarau congratulated the association for keeping its flag flying over the years and mobilising the women folk towards making them self reliant describing the Association as dear to him for its unique and wonderful performance.

On his part, the Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu described women journalists as more objective in their reporting and commentaries, urging them to rise to the challenges of discharging their duties with high sense of patriotism and conscience.

He also charged them not compromise the ethical standards of their profession by succumbing to material inducements, expressing the hope that the occasion would be used to pull out the challenges militating against their progress for possible solutions as well as pave ways for more to join the profession.

Also in a message to the occasion the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals, MDGs, Hajiya Amina Ibrahim represented by Ms Olufunke Baruwa, identified lack of sound capital base as the greatest challenges of the women folk in the 21st century, stressing the need for the women to consider their male counterparts as partners in progress instead of looking at them as the competitors.
