Kano state government will establish 520 viewing centers across the 44 local government areas of the state.
Executive Director, Kano State Censorship Board, Alhaji Isma’ila Na’Abbah Afakallah disclosed this when members of the Kano state chapter of the Hausa Actors Guild of Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Afakallah said the initiative was meant to boost sales of indigenous Hausa films and to also curb the issue of piracy that had affected the growth of Hausa movie industry over the years.
“We have set aside about 520 viewing centers across the state which would be given a projector and a generator each for viewing our home videos. The business of film making has changed, hence we need to update the way we do our business to stay afloat even in the face of technological evolutions,” he said.
He urged the artistes to remain focus and committed to their businesses saying acting is a talent from God which could be used to transform the society.
He further advised them to be organized and work towards achieving a common goal, stressing that by so doing government could be encouraged to invest more in the industry.
