Kogi guber: Echocho declares support for Wada

Ahead of today’s gubernatorial election in Kogi State, the winner of the January 9, 2011 primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho, has said that he will work for the victory of the party’s flag bearer, Capt. Idris Wada.

Responding to a text message sent to him by our correspondent on Thursday, Echocho confirmed that the development was at the instance of the intervention by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.

Also confirming the development, a former Special Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and spokesman of the Wada/Awoniyi Campaign Organisation, Tunde Olunsunle, said, “This is the most fitting denouement to the long-drawn gubernatorial debacle in Kogi, a pleasant icing on the hardwork, commitment and efforts which the PDP has put into the forthcoming election”.

Before now, Echocho’s supporters were said to have declared support for the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Prince Abubakar Audu.
