The Senate President who  was in the state to attend the burial of Rev father Jerome Bello, stated this yesterday during a sympathy visit to  Governor Idris Wada  after inspecting the flood disaster ravaging the state capital, Lokoja.

“I heard you saying   Kogi State is not very well off in terms of financial allocation from the Federal Government. I thought the oil producing states are well off, so I will be a bit surprise if you are not well off.

“I believe you are one of the latest states producing oil; I hope  that is resolved as quickly as possible if it is not already resolved,” he said.

Mark described flood in the state as a natural disaster, saying he will discuss with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other government agencies that can assist to mobilize and render the much needed assistant as quickly as possible.

Earlier, Governor Wada appealed to the Senate President to intervene in the disaster to get more relief from the Federal Government.

He said Kogi is a young state challenged by infrastructure and that the federal allocation is “very meager and by the time we paid salary, we have very little hence you should please remember us.”
