Kogi monarch donates outpost to NSCDC
The Ohinoyi of Girinya chiefdom in Kogi Local Government Council of Kogi State, Alhaji Muhammed Ganaguda Momoh
The Ohinoyi of Girinya chiefdom in Kogi Local Government Council of Kogi State, Alhaji Muhammed Ganaguda Momoh, on Thursday, handed over a newly completed office, fully furnished, to men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to be used as an outpost.
Alhaji Momoh, while speaking during the official commissioning/handing over of the edifice, said he decided to build and donate the office to the corps in order to combat cases of kidnapping, cattle rustling, armed banditry and other crimes in the chiefdom.
He said the idea to build and donate the NSCDC outpost in his domain was as a result of consultations with the NSCDC Area Commander of Gegu-Beki, ACC Olaleye Timothy, whom he said has promised to deploy his men and officers to the outpost in Girinya community.
He said the chiefdom has witnessed incessant cases of kidnapping, banditry and robbery especially along the highway, which he said shares borders with Niger State.
“It was on this premise that members of my traditional council, titleholders and my entire subjects decided to come together to mobilise funds to build and donate the edifice to men of the NSCDC in order to serve as an outpost,” he said.
The Chairman of Kogi Local Government Council, Alhaji Isah Abdulkarim, who performed the official commissioning of the NSCDC outpost, commended the Ohinoyi for building and donating the structure.
The local government chairman also commended the NSCDC State Commandant, Dr. Peters S. Maigari, for his commitment to combating crimes and vandals across the state.
He assured the state commandant of his administration’s support to ensure that the lives and property of the entire people of the local government are protected.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr Peter Samuel Maigari, represented by the corps deputy commandant, Gbenga B. Ojo, said it was his desire to strengthen and protect the lives and property of the entire people of not only Girinya community but entire people of Kogi state.
