Kogi monarch promises to empower traditional rulers’ wives

The Ohimegye of Igu-Kotonkarfe kingdom in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Alhaji Abdulrazak Isah Koto, has promised to empower wives of traditional rulers in his kingdom.
Alhaji Koto made the promise when he hosted wives of traditional rulers across rural communities under the kingdom who paid him a visit at his palace on Thursday.

He said the need to empower the traditional rulers’ wives in his kingdom became necessary, as it would reduce the burden on the families and make them self-reliant.
He said women play a vital role in every society, hence the need to empower them.
The monarch said he was elated with the visit and urged them to continue to support their husbands especially in the area of ensuring peaceful co-existence among their people.
Earlier, the leader of the wives of the traditional rulers, Hawakulu Ibrahim Haruna, said the visit was to seek his blessing and to formally intimate to him the position of the association.
