A Frontline politician, Dr Olatunji Olusoji has advised the Okun-Yoruba speaking people in west district of kogi state to employ dialogue, rather than confrontation in their quest to rule the state .
Dr Olusoji disclosed this yesterday in a brief interaction with newsmen in Lokoja.
He said the Okun people and their leaders should strive hard and put their house in order for a common front that will assist in achieving their governorship quest.
The Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State says the present leaders lack cohesion that will successfully prosecute governorship ambition to the Okun land .
He attributed their failure all this while to clinch the exalted position in the state to lack of unity, love and high prevalence of pettiness among the people of Okunland.
Dr Olusoji said : “In the last 2023 governorship election, only Kogi West could not agreed on a consensus governorship candidate out of the three senatorial districts in the state
“Okun people are not united, we are not organised. Pettiness, pull him down syndrome, hatred for one and another will not help us”.
The businessman turned politician therefore called on the people of Okun to support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a second term in office in 2027 and avoid unnecessary confrontation with other parts of the state.
He said Governor Ododo remains a trusted and credible leader who will honour his promise to hand over governorship position to Kogi West in 2032.
He added :“We must be serious, we must be prepared because Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is ready to hand over to Okun”.
While Dr Olusoji condemned the incessant bandits’ attack in kogi state , particularly the Okun areas, calling on the state and local governments to complement the efforts of the federal government to checkmate the rising banditry activities.
He said the battle against insecurity is an expensive type, stressing that it can only be handled properly with improvement in funding, acquisition of sophisticated security hardwares, technology and motivation of security personnel.
However, Dr Olusoji commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over reforms introduced by his administration since assumption of office in 2023.
While Dr Olusoji described the reforms as elixir that will put the country back on track, he said pains associated with it is temporary.
“The reforms are difficult and painful, but it is for the good of all of us.The reforms will yield positive outcomes in the near future”, he said.
