The Kogi State Police Command yesterday said it has arrested two kidnap and robbery suspects that had been terrorising the people of Ankpa and environs in recent times.
The command, in a statement by its spokesman, William Ovye Aya, said the duo of Tairu Kadiri Amedu, 35 and Aleru Suleiman, 38, were arrested following security strategies deployed by the commissioner of police in the state, CP Ali Janga.
He said following the report that some suspected kidnappers had abducted one Sani David at Ankpa, the commissioner of police directed men of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) in the state to hunt for the criminal elements, adding that in the process the two suspects were arrested.
He said the anti-robbery squad in the course of the operation discovered the body of the kidnap victim (David) who was allegedly killed by the suspects while in their custody.
Items recovered from the suspects, according to the statement, included 11 SIM cards, 29 pieces of fake US dollars, 23 pieces of fake euro, seven mobile phones and seven ATM cards.
He said the suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.
