The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) located in Osara, Kogi State has achieved a significant milestone with the recent accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence law and medicine programs.
Th3 development marks a pivotal moment in the institution’s history, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence and broadening its educational offerings.
Established by former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello CON, CUSTECH was envisioned as a hub for science and technology education in the region. Since its inception, the university has made substantial strides in creating an environment conducive to learning and innovation.
The addition of law and medicine to its curriculum represents a significant expansion of its academic portfolio, catering to the diverse educational needs of its student population.
A statement signed by Registrar of CUSTECH, Olufunke Hudson said the full accreditation status highlights the university’s dedication to upholding excellence.
According to the statement, the accredited programmes include “ Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Statistics. Others are Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering and Information Technology.”
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdulrahman Salawu expressed delight over the feat.
Professor Salawu disclosed that the university was keeping pace with its academic development plans as it has forwarded applications for the establishment of six more programmes to NUC for approval which will commence with the newly approved ones in the 2024/2025 academic session.
