Kogi State University (KSU),Anyigba, said yesterday it will be awarding certificates to 6,983 graduates at the institution’s third convocation ceremony on September 19. KSU Vice Chancellor, Prof Hassan S. Isah, who stated this at a pre-convocation press conference, explained that certificates will be awarded to all categories of students who graduated from the institution between 2011 and 2014.
He said under the undergraduate categories, 11 of the graduates bagged first class honours, 1,029 with second class upper, 4,236 with second class lower, 1,500 with third class and 150 with pass degrees.
Isah said there are 148 for Post Graduate Diplomas (PGDs), 305 for master’s degree and 55 for doctorate (PhDs) across various disciplines.
The vice chancellor said 24 of the programmes offered in the university have received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) while the remaining eight got interim accreditation. He said his seven year tenure had recorded remarkable achievements in terms of quality and strength of its staff, quality of graduates, infrastructural and human capital development, among others.
Isah, who said he embarked on 60 different projects of which 25 have been completed while 35 are still ongoing, thanked Governor Idris Wada for his unrelenting support to the university.
