The Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has ordered a review of the election process for a new Emir of Kontagora.
He also redeployed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, to the Ministry of Youth Development.

These followed a petition by one of the contestants to the throne, Mika Anache, a lawyer, against the kingmakers and the commissioner, where he accused them of abuse of the selection process.
Announcing these decisions yesterday, the Secretary to State Government (SSG), Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, in a statement said the Commissioner for Youth Development, Emmanuel Umar, would take over from Daji with immediate effect.
“To reinforce the state government’s neutrality in the election process, a review of the process has been directed by Mr Governor,” the statement added.
