The Korean government Monday said it would provide $12.4m for the construction of solar mini-grids projects in Nigeria communities.

Vice President, Korean Institute for Advancement of Technology of Republic of Korea, Kim Jeong-Wook, stated this in Abuja.

Jeong-Wook said the project was designed to meet the rising energy demand of rural communities by constructing solar power generation systems in cooperation with the Nigerian government.

He said the project would boost local economy, create jobs, fight poverty and improve the lives of residence.

“Additionally, by narrowing the energy gap between the cities and rural areas, the project is expected to drive balance development across the country” he said.
