In a bid to celebrate its heritage and make it more known in Nigeria, the Korean Cultural Centre in Abuja, celebrated its cultural day.
Speaking at the event, Meeyoun Jee, the Cultural Consultant at the Korean Cultural Centre, said that Nigeria has a lot of potential where it comes to collaborating creatively with Korea.
She said, “Nigerians that have come here have shown that they are very interested in learning what Korea has to offer. This has opened doors for many opportunities as many universities in Korea are now open to accepting applications from foreign students.”
The event which took place at the exhibition hall of the Centre, gave the guests the chance to learn how to write in Hanguel on Hanji paper so as to learn more on the rich Korean culture that Jee said Nigerians have shown eagerness to learn.
Sumi Oke, was one of the 40 guests who attended the event. She said, “I was introduced to Korean culture by watching a lot of Korean dramas, movies and listening to K-Pop. So having a place in Abuja where I can learn the language and Korean culture is really great.”
The Korean Cultural Centre holds events throughout the year such as move nights, food festivals, taekwondo and language classes.”
