Koroma is new FAO Country Representative for Nigeria

Mr Suffyan Koroma has been appointed as the new Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations Country Representative for Nigeria. 

Mr Koroma, from Sierra Leone, was before his recent appointment, a Senior Economist, FAO Regional Office for Africa (RAF) in Accra, Ghana.

He has over 20 years’ experience with FAO working at its headquarters in Rome, Italy as an economist, policy and programme adviser and technical support specialist in the areas of agriculture, food security, trade and commodity market development with national governments, regional economic communities and the African Union/Nepad Planning and Coordination Agency. 

He has also worked extensively in Asia and the Caribbean. 

Koroma, after submitting his letter of commission to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama in Abuja, assured that FAO, , would contribute significantly to the Nigeria’s economic recovery and growth plan, which has agriculture and food security as one of its main objectives.
