Products of the Kwara State Football Academy, Kelvin Kpakor and Nanen Barnabas Imenger Jnr were signed by Kwara United coach Kadiri Ikhana and have become instant hit in the top flight.

At the moment the duo along with Kareem Yekeen, Daniel Philemon, Jimoh Sherif and Gbenga Arokoyo has combined to make Kwara United one of the dreaded teams in the league.

Speaking to Trustsports on his son’s performance, Kpakor said he is not in any way surprised that Kelvin is doing well for Kwara United.

He said those who watched him play football in his days will know that what the son is doing presently runs in the family.

Kpakor said teen sensation is from a football family and if he does anything less than what he is doing presently, it would disappoint those who watched him and his late elder brother, Terfa Kpakor play football.

I am not surprised that my son Kelvin is playing well. He has taken after me and that is not a surprise. He is from a football family and I never expected anything less than what he is doing presently.

Kpakor thanked Ikhana for building his team around youthful players he recruited at the beginning of the season as he maintained that modern football is played by boys who have the energy to withstand its rigours.

He, therefore charged the youths who have been handed a golden opportunity by Ikhana to always justify the confidence reposed in them.

On his part, Imenger said his son is destined for greatness because he is endowed with the same skills that made him a successful player in his days.

He described his son as highly skillful, hardworking and disciplined saying the future ahead of him is really bright.

Imenger said he is not surprised that his son is playing in the top flight at such a tender age because he did the same when he started out with BBL Hawks of Makurdi.

He also commended Ikhana for having faith in the teenage sensations who have shown in very clear terms that the challenge is not too much for them to handle.

It is a thing of joy to know that my son is doing really well in the top flight. Whenever I hear comments about him, I feel proud to have such a son.

Imenger said if he keeps his head, the Kwara United striker will go places because he is a product of one of the best football academies in Africa.

Kelvin and Nanen have since appeared on the score sheet for Kwara United in the elite division of the Nigerian league.
