The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, has suspended the operation of commercial motorcycles in the area.
Sabo, while addressing newsmen in his office yesterday, said the move was aimed at checking the spread of coronavirus.
He said the suspension of the operation of commercial motorcycles was a unanimous decision reached by all relevant stakeholders including representatives of various security agencies in the area.
“COVID-19 is a global issue and governments at all levels are fighting to curtail its spread. And with reported new cases, it has become imperative to suspend the activities of commercial motorcycle operators,” he said.
He said the suspension is part of measures to keep rural communities safe.
