The chairman of Kuje Area Council, Alhaji Abdullahi D. Galadima, has commissioned a mini water scheme which he rehabilitated and upgraded at Monu village of the council.

Galadima, while commissioning the project on Friday, said it was built by a former chairman of the council, Danladi Etsu Zhin’s administration in collaboration with the then FCT Millennium Development Goals (MGDs) in 2009.

He said the water project broke down in 2014, a situation that caused water problem to the people of the community and neighbouring villages in the area.

He said despite the financial challenges he had been facing since he assumed office, the council decided to ensure that substantial money was released to refurbish the water works in the community.

The chairman said the refurbished and upgraded water project would also serve other neighbouring villages such as Tika, and Rubochi, adding that the council would also connect water to Sumami village to alleviate the potable water problem in the village.

He therefore said the council would always provide diesel and repair the generator that pumped the water, and called on the residents of the community to maintain the project.

Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Rubochi, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Pada, noted that the community has been facing perennial water problem over the years.

He said the repair and upgrading of the water works at Monu village would cushion the effect of water scarcity in Rubochi and its environs.
