The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has promised additional infrastructure projects to the residents of Kuje Area Council.

Wike made the pledge in Kuje while addressing stakeholders following the outcome of the February 21 FCT area council elections.

The promise followed a request by the chairman-elect, Danjuma Shekwolo, for the Minister to consider the execution of three key road projects.

Wike acknowledged the request and committed to meeting with the chairman-elect and traditional leaders to prioritize which projects to begin first.

“Your chairman-elect mentioned two or three road projects. Let me tell you, by the time your chairman is sworn in this June, I will call him and the traditional rulers so we can sit and agree on which one we will start with,” Wike stated. “I am very interested in Kuje; because the Kuje people have stood by us, we will stand by you.”

The minister recalled a 2023 town hall meeting where residents appealed for the completion of the Airport Road to Kuje, a project awarded by the previous administration.

He noted that residents had also requested the dualization of the Tipper Garage to LEA Secretariat Road.

“Today, we have not only awarded the Garage Road contract, but it has also been completed and inaugurated. I have also directed the contractor executing the Airport Road to Kuje project to return to the site,” he added.

According to the Minister, the contractor has assured the FCT Administration that the road will be among the projects President Tinubu will inaugurate to celebrate his third anniversary.

“Also, the Kuje-Gwagwalada road, which is about 16 to 17 kilometers long, is progressing very well. We are praying to Almighty Allah that by June this year, Mr. President will also inaugurate that road,” he said.
