Kundila emerges as ABU Registrar

The Governing Council of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has approved the appointment of Malam Abdullahi Ahmed Kundila as registrar of the premier institution. The appointment is for a single term of five years.
A seasoned university administrator, Kundila was until the appointment, the deputy registrar and administrative secretary of the ABU’s famous Sir Kashim Ibrahim Library, better known as KIL.
Born in Zaria City on March 9, 1960, Kundila graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University in 1984 with first class in language arts (English).
He obtained his master degree (English Language) from the same institution in 1998 and got his MBA and PGD in Management Science from the Bayero University Kano (BUK) in 1999 and 1992 respectively.
Kundila’s appointment followed consideration by the institution’s Governing Council of the report and recommendation of the Joint Council/Senate Selection Board for the appointment of the substantive registrar for the university.
A letter dated May 27, 2016, issued by the institution’s acting registrar and secretary to council, Malam Rabi’u Samaila, which conveyed Kundila’s appointment, said that the appointment was in line with Section 6(1) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1993 as amended.
Kundila was from 2012 to 2014 the acting registrar of the university. Between 1985 and 1991, he was a graduate assistant, Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The new registrar is Fellow, Chartered Institute of Administration, Member, Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators and Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM).
