No fewer than 457 academic staff have been recruited by the Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST) Wudil in the last four years.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Shehu Musa Alhaji disclosed this in a keynote address during the send off party organised in honour of the former chief librarian of the institution,
Dr Binta Ladan Farouk.

The VC described the feat as one of the remarkable achievements recorded in the university under his watch given the recessionary condition that characterized the economy within the period in the
country.

He also revealed that the university in its bid to diversify its course contents, had entered into a partnership with one Chinese university to develop information sciences.

“I don’t know any Nigerian university whether federal or state that was given the opportunity to recruit 457 academic staff under the recession.

“You know we have done conversion of all the casual staff numbering 248, we have also employed over 200, I am sure the work-force we have employed over the last four years is close to a thousand or more than a thousand.

The VC extolled the leadership virtues of the Chief Librarian, saying the university would miss her wise counsel especially in its most trying moment.

He reiterated commitment to giving in his best to ensure that the institution attend a greater height.
