The excitement was there throughout the day, as the result was not announced until 9p.m.  Two people contested for president; Aminu Mukhtar Saleh and Ibrahim Isma’il Kwangila. When the results were out, Saleh had defeated Kwangila.
I lost my phone that day, but I am grateful that one of my friends found it later in the day.
However, as for me, it all started on 11/5/12 when two of my friends, Yusuf Ali Bello and Aminu Mukhtar Saleh came and asked me whether I would like to join the Student’s Representative Assembly (SRA) of the Student Union Government (SUG).
My reply was yes, initially but I later changed my mind due to some personal issues. Both of them went to the SRA and earned themselves respect through hard work and dedication.
Aminu Mukhtar Saleh in his desire of seeing positive changes in the university, later developed interest in the seat of the president. Having served as Secretary General in the National Association of Agricultural Students, KUST chapter, and as chairman of the welfare and social committee, he believed he has enough credentials and can contribute immensely to the overall development of students.
When Aminu’s ambition for the seat of president became fully exposed some had faith in him while others doubted him as expected. He was so confident that he never got discouraged despite the obstacles he underwent.
“All I am seeking is Allah’s assistance and guidance,” he kept saying.
Finally election week came and Allah granted him success.
“May Allah assist you in fulfilling all the promises you made to people,” I texted him after the election.
