This was disclosed by the university Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Garba, during the 2009/2010 matriculation ceremony held at the Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil.
The VC enumerated the developmental history of the institution since its inception in April 2001, stating that the school started with two faculties and a total number of 88 students. He also pointed out that 1,324 students were matriculated in the 2009/2010 matriculation.
Similarly, it was also revealed by the VC that, the Education Trust Fund has just awarded a contract for the construction of 300 seater twin lecture theaters which are to be completed within six months.
The Special Guest of Honour, the Secretary to the State Government, Kano, Alhaji Abdulkarim Hassan, who was represented by the Special Advisor to the state governor on student’s affairs, Dr Tijjani Naniya, cautioned the students on the need for them to adhere to the rules and regulations of the school. He also urged them to inculcate in themselves the spirit of future leaders for a better tomorrow.
The ceremony was attended by the Makaman Kano, District Head of Wudil, Alhaji Sarki Ibrahim and other dignitaries of the university’s community. 1,324 students were matriculated for the 2009/2010 academic session. 340 students are in the Faculty of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology, 219 in the Engineering Faculty, 129 students are in the Faculty of Environmental Studies and 636 in the Faculty of Science and Science Education.
