The Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Danladi Chiya

The Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Danladi Chiya, has disclosed that the council will set up a committee to address the issue of inccesant clashes between farmers and herders in the area.

Chiya, who stated this while speaking with our reporter in Kwali on Monday, said the need to set up the committee became imperative due to reports of clashes that ensued among the farmers and herders arising from the destruction of crops at farms.

He said the committee will comprise chief of farmers, Ardo fulani’s traditional rulers, village/district heads and community leaders across the ten wards of the council.

According to him, the committee will be put in place as soon as residents resume from both Christmas and new year festivities, even as he said the council will also embark on sensitisation campaign across the council.

“We shall also embark on sensitising our farmers and herdsmen on the need to live in peace with each other,” he said.

The chairman also said it was quite worrisome how some people sustained various degrees of injury during the recent clash that ensued between farmers and herders in the area.
