Governor of Kano State, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso today declared his intention to contest for Nigeria’s presidency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration which took place at the Old Parade ground in Abuja witnessed a mammoth crowd in colourful red and white attire.

Present at the declaration were Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state, his Lagos state counterpart Babatunde Raji Fashola, as well as Alhaji Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar of Zamfara state. Also present were members of the National Assembly, comprising 28 senators and 74 House of Reps members.

In his declaration, Kwankwaso said it was unfortunate that the ruling People’s Democratic Party PDP is using sentiments to divide and polarize the country. He also promised to tackle corruption headlong.

“We will cut cost of running government and eliminate all forms of wastages like we have done in Kano. It is possible,” he said. He called on Nigerians to rally round the APC come 2015 general elections for the necessary change to be effected in the nation’s economy.

Kwankwaso joins former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Ex-military president General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) who had earlier declared their intention under the platform of the APC.
