Kano State governor, Engr. Rabiu Kwankwaso was denied landing permit at the Benue State airport in Makurdi where he was billed to take off by road to Lafia, in his campaign visit to Nasarawa State, official sources said.

 All was set for his reception at both the Government House, and the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by about 12 when he was being expected, but news filtered in that he could not land in Makurdi with a chartered flight. Official sources said the airplane that flew the APC presidential aspirant hovered around Makurdi for sometimes, waiting for permit which did not come.

 “The airport authorities communicated to the crew that they were under instruction not to give landing permit to the plane,” a source said.

 State APC secretary, Aliyu Bello, when contacted, told Daily Trust that Kwankwaso was billed for Lafia, to canvass for votes from party delegates, but added that “we were told later on that he would not make it because he was denied landing permit at the airport in Makurdi.”

 Bello said information available to the party showed that the presidential aspirant returned to Abuja, where he took off, again to Kano after he learnt of the Friday bomb blast in the commercial city. The development brought to two, the number of APC presidential candidates denied landing in Makurdi, in about three days, the first being leader of the party, General Muhammadu Buhari.
