I would like to appeal to our two heavy weight politicians to please come to terms and sound footing. Your position is different from the other politicians in Kano State in particular, and in the North in general. As a matter of fact, sometimes your actions and inactions permeate the whole country.

The position every one of you is nursing now is repugnant to many Nigerians and hence detrimental to your political life, and also to your esteem personage. In some respect, Kano State is considered in the North as a senior sister, therefore she is supposed to be primordial and exemplary.

We had all seen the mighty of Kano State in the last election of 2015, and all had acknowledged the vital role played by the state. Sirs, don’t belittle or debase yourselves, for you are among the major players of politics in Nigeria. As such, my two iconic leaders, reconciliation has become imperative and compulsory on you.

Sirs, the interest of Kano State and her people be above your personal interests in any case and situation. And again the interest of the North and the country as a whole supersede your ego. You should bear in mind that you are working for the people and not for yourselves. It is also pertinent to know that one day both of you will leave, while Kano State will remain till the end of the world, and thus history will speak of you.

No one will like to be remembered as the cause of atrocities or mayhem, but as a source of prosperity and love. Please don’t listen to those who gossip and cause harm between two of you. They are gold diggers and self-serving lots. What is most encouraging to us is that, our executive governor is given the precious and beautiful title of Khadimul Islam, meaning the servant of Islam, a title no governor has ever received in the North. As such, I am very sure our governor will actualize this practically, for among the service in Islam is reconciliation with whom you are in bad blood or hostility.

If we look into the Hadith, the tradition of the great Prophet (SAW) we can find that a lot of them dwelled on this issue, for Almighty Allah is often forgiving and oft merciful. The prophet (SAW) too used to forgive all those who had offended him, and his companions after him followed suit. Forgiveness and reconciliation are virtues in Islam. Without these two virtuous qualities, it would be impossible for us to live together. It is obligatory upon all Muslims to make peace and reconcile those who are in disharmony. Politics is ephemeral and transitory, while brotherhood remains forever.

The prophet of humanity said any two persons who are in lack of concord or in face-off for three days, their good deeds will not ascend to the heavens. He said again that if two use their sword fighting each other both of them will be in hellfire, for both of them were willing to kill.

The most devastating part of this serious issue is this that my brothers and sisters of our beloved Kano are divided into two factions, namely Kwankwasiya and Gandujiya. They are all ready for showdown, to use their power, energy and resources for decisive confrontation. My people of Kano State, you should know that the interest of your state as a community is above the interest of any individual or group of individuals.

If the two factions engage in fighting and kill each other or cause mayhem, who is the victorious and triumphant and who is the vanquished? If they destroy the property of each other who is the loser? Can this be regarded as an audacity? Can this be counted as a heroic deed? If they vandalize government and private belongings, can this serve the interest of the state?

It is mentioned in the glorious Qur’an that if any person kills a believer, his abode will be Jahannam, hellfire forever. If one kills a person, that will be regarded as killing the whole mankind, and thus, if he saves or revives a life, it is tantamount to reviving the whole mankind. Our religion has seriously prohibited killing of all kinds without legal reason. Killing or murder is odious and hideous to Islam. Destruction of properties is repulsive. Entertainment of egoistic sentiment is forbidden.

In conclusion, I call upon my two political figures to come to terms and reconcile, for by so doing you will save Kano State from vicious political upheaval. All of you should fear Allah Almighty. Promote the unity of your people for this is where your strength lies.
