Speaking during the 3rd matriculation ceremony of the university, he said the institution was equipped with modern facilities and committed staff that can compete favourably with others in the country.
The governor explained that this year, 1,550 students were admitted, making the total number of matriculated students 3,780.
“Previously, some students have been admitted into the faculty of basic science to study their degrees in anatomy, biochemistry and physiology.  
“It is our hope that this faculty will develop into a college of health science to offer MBBS degree with a view to providing the state with more medical doctors.”
He said that National Universities Commission (NUC) is expected to accredit more courses offered by the university, assuring that the state government would continue to support the institution to realise its goals.
Earlier, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Danjuma Maiwada, expressed appreciation to Kwankwaso for the provision of structures and good learning environment.
