The factional caretaker treasurer and financial secretary of Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday in Ilorin added voice to the accusations over mismanagement of the 2019 campaign funds rocking the party in the state.
They defended the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, over the issue and reiterated that he provided funding for campaign of all the party’s House of Assembly candidates during the 2019 electioneering.
The lawmakers had on Sunday denied the minister’s claim of funding for the election and said it was Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who bankrolled their candidacy.
Addressing reporters in Ilorin, the financial secretary of the party, Mohammed Tajudeen, said the minister released the money.
“As custodians of the party accounts, we want to restate that the said money was released to them by Alhaji Lai Mohammed and transferred to them through the party account,” he said.
