The Kwara State Sports Commission has announced the dissolution of all sports associations in the state with immediate effect.
The Commission further directed members of the affected associations to hand over all official documents and materials without delay.
In a statement signed by its Press Secretary, Saheed Abdullahi, the Commission said the decision was reached during its sitting on September 12, 2025, after a review of the operations of the associations.
“The Commission in its sitting on 12th September 2025 deliberated on the associations and approved the dissolution of all sports associations in the state forthwith,” the statement read.
According to the Commission, the move is aimed at repositioning the associations by bringing in more committed members while retaining only those who have demonstrated active participation and results, in order to improve efficiency and service delivery.
“The dissolution became necessary to inject fresh and passionate members into the associations while retaining only those who are truly active to ensure effective service delivery,” the statement added.
The directive also requires all affected members to surrender association documents, records, and materials to their respective secretaries.
The Commission expressed appreciation to outgoing members for their contributions and urged them to comply fully with the dissolution order.
