He challenged Buhari to focus more on agriculture, than oil, in order to diversify the nation’s revenue base.
Speaking with Daily Trust in Ilorin, Ajiboye lamented that the dependence on oil, which is the mainstay of the nation’s economy, has diverted attention from agriculture.
He said that agriculture can provide youths employment, urging Buhari to make the sector the kernel of his economic revolution.
He added: “I think … that’s the only way we can address the challenge, especially in terms of processing of the agriculture outputs. We should establish industries to process our agricultural produce.”
Also speaking, the Kwara State Chairman of Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Alhaji Sherrif Atolagbe, said farmers across the country expect a lot from the incoming administration.
He said: “The federal government has been trying in terms of agriculture. But we, farmers, are like Oliver Twist. The incoming government should try more to assist farmers the more.”
